I can not imagine
a world without flowers.
I remember marsh marigolds in the spring when
I was growing up on a farm in Northern Ontario. We found arbutus
on the rocks when there was still snow on the ground. Later in
summer wild roses bloomed in the grove, a favorite place of mine
and throughout the long cold winter red geraniums grew on the
windowsill.
I now grow red geraniums and love to paint them.
Wild roses are still special to me. Daisies, buttercups and thistle
grow by Stumpy Bay Road at our camp and if I am lucky and brave
enough to venture into the bush I can sometimes find a wild orchid.
Blueberries are Sudbury's fruit and I enjoy painting
them as well. My blueberry paintings have gone all over the world
including England, Ireland, Germany and the U.S.A and Bulgaria.
I find watercolour to be a challenging, magical
medium especially suited to floral painting.
